Here are some sites I visit, programs I use, that sort of thing. Some sites may contain R-18 or NSFW content, and will be marked with [R18]. I may decide some sites are probably a bit borderline, and will mark those with [R15]. Imageboards and other BBSes may be attacked by spam or trolls, so you might see some unpleasantness before the site staff gets to dealing with it, you've been warned.

- Renoise - tracker-style DAW I use. I absolutely love it. Nearly all of my music is made with Renoise. Has a very generous free demo, with only saving audio disabled.
- Krita - free drawing program. Very featureful. I primarily use it for animation. You can find a quick primer to animating with Krita here.
- Wiby - search engine for use with old browsers that brings up sites that aren't heavily dependent on modern CSS or JS. I don't actually use it as a search engine much, but the surprise me button is amazing for finding new stuff, taking you to a random page.
- [R18] Heyuri - fairly active imageboard I like, avoids a lot of 4chan-isms via rules that ban them. Several off-topic boards, several image dumping boards, a large area with translated Japanese CGI scripts and games, and an oekaki drawing board. Very NSFW. I spend a significant amount of time on the [R18] oekaki board and [R18] Strange World sections (the URL for Strange World@Heyuri has changed recently).
- Nashi Kouen - all-ages imageboard. Has off-topic, doll/figure, and unix/programming boards, along with an oekaki drawing board. Completely SFW.
[R15] ProDefCh - another imageboard I browse. Not quite all-ages like Nashi Kouen, but doesn't allow NSFW content. - ProDefCh is dead... RIP...- [R18] Kissu.moe - yet another imageboard I browse. I like checking out the streams they have, too. Someone will usually post when they're streaming something.
- [R18] hikari3.ch - yet another another imageboard I browse. I thought I had this one in the list already, but apparently not.
- Denpa-chan - a text BBS with a fairly relaxed atmosphere.
- PSDTool - web viewer for Photoshop .PSD files. Primarily useful for viewing character files that use customizable expressions/poses stored as layers (an example is provided on the site). Some are specifically configured for use with PSDTool, so it's occasionally better than opening the file in PS itself, Krita, or Gimp. Site is in Japanese.
- Petit Note - Japanese oekaki drawing board. Very active. Blurs out NSFW stuff by default, and has a fairly strict definititon of what counts as NSFW, but it does allow it. I don't post here, but I like to browse. Also has a board for middle and high school students to use, Petit BOX Jr.
- MAME BEMANI fork - a fork of MAME by 987123879113 (AKA WindyFairy) made specifically for playing the BEMANI releases (like DDR and Beatmania). Most of the work here does get upstreamed to mainline MAME, but there are a handful of extra additions here (like a hack to get the videos in IIDX to play), along with configuration for getting the timing as good as you can get it. You'll probably want to check the wiki for setup info. Naturally, this doesn't come with any of the ROMs or CHD images needed to play, although those aren't hard to find.
- IIDX.org - extremely good resource for IIDX with a focus playing through official means, such as on cabinet or through Konami's PC subscription service. Covers the whole gamut of player, from someone who has only just found out about the series to someone who has been playing for years and is looking to improve.
- Lay31415's weblog - a blog with excellent information about the 5-key Beatmania games.
- [R18] Oglaf - a very funny (and VERY R-18) webcomic set in some kind of fantasy setting. It gets quite explicit, so again, R-18 warning. I found out about it from xkcd. I'm not kidding, look at the "Comics I enjoy:" area on every xkcd page, Randall links there too.
- OldWeb.Today - a browser based emulator that lets you run old web browsers. Very useful for testing if things work in an old browser. My site will be kind of unreadable in old browsers due to the backgrounds and my use of a transparent content area, unfortunately -- I want to rectify this at some point.
- UFO Motion Test - site with various monitor tests. I have a crappy office monitor from like 10+ years ago, so of course I get the (expected) bad results.
- LainNet - spaztron64's personal website. Has a blog, a simple BBS to post on, and various links and downloads.
- Magical Fami (French) - a very good fan sequel to Ojamajo Doremi, one of my favorite anime series. Also available in English. An exceptional love letter to the series, it's bascially a full sequel manga. You might recognize the author's art from elsewhere.
- ratfactor - Dave Gauer's personal website. Has quite a nice tech blog, and helped me tremendously with adding an Atom feed to my site.
- Yukinu - Yukinu's personal website. Has a good blog and a few other services. Very cool site theme.
