This page features various 3D animations I've done. I've mostly been using TiXL for them. Some are full-featured, some are quick and dirty. Use the offsite links if you can, because this is a free Neocities account and thus the options I can host here (.webp and .gif) are very low quality and are guaranteed to lack sound. This page is slowly being filled out!

A quick little scene heavily inspired by the Sonic series.
I was planning on going in an entirely different direction with this, but ended up leaning into the Sonic theming the further I went into it. Was feeling very "Sega blue skies" since the sky was the first thing I worked on. I wanted to make the whole thing look even more oldschool, but TiXL's rendering pipeline is extremely modern. I really should learn how to write shaders so I could get the look I want...
The audio is just Green Hill Zone's BGM. I considered adding a few random sound effects, or even just recording audio of myself playing, but decided against it.
it's not much of a green hill if it's flat

A short music video with a moving cube object against a trippy background.
There are definitely things that I would change, but I am too lazy and I want to be done with this. It's supposed to loop seamlessly, but I think there's some kinda off-by-one error in TiXL. Oh well. I think it came out very well, I just don't want to be stuck working on this when it was supposed to be such a simple animation.
I used this font for the text, and VOICEVOX Zundamon for the vocals. If you don't know how to add fonts for use with TiXL, use this program, MSDFtron.
it's blurry because I rendered the whole video with motion blur

A gleaming sphere-like object floating in front of a city skyline, being targeted by a reticle. No sound.
This one was a challenge to myself to not explicitly use any 3D geometry or positioning. Everything happens in screen space and the warped sphere is a radial gradient with a lot of effects applied to it. The floor is also a radial gradient, distorted heavily with a PolarCoordinates node. I'm not satisfied with the colors, but I'm also not going to spend any more time on this.

Swirling spheres with motion blur against a dramatic background. No sound.
I really love the way this looks. Someone I showed this to said it looks like it'd be a Sega system boot splash, and I totally agree. I probably won't be encoding in VP9 again, although maybe I just need to tweak some settings since the files behave a little oddly. Here's the original miniblog entry about it.

The birth and death of a planet, featuring subtitles, music, and a (TTS) voiceover.
My first major project with TiXL, and I think it came out great. It's not perfect by any means, but I never expected it to come together quite so well. I did a blog writeup about developing this.
